Director, Operational
Planning and Support

Our client is a healthcare network including a flagship 429-bed hospital offering the full medical and surgical services.  The Level II Trauma Center last year saw over 60,000 patient visits while OB Services and the Level III neonatal unit served well over 5,000 babies.  The network also operates more than 20 community health centers, a psychiatric pavilion and a 24-hour Emergency Psychiatric Unit.   It is also the home of the largest family practice residency program in the United States, training more than 150 residents each year.  While serving as the primary provider for the indigent population in the county, the network also maintains a AAA bond rating based on its continuing strong financial performance.

The network now seeks a quality leader to fill the newly created Director, Operational Planning and Support position.  The primary focus of the department, recognized as the decision support function, will be to provide the Senior Leadership group with analyses of new and expanding services throughout the Network.  Leading a current group of three, the Director will assess goals and resources of the department, developing a responsive team that will provide budgeting, forecasting and financial modeling on an

on-going and ad hoc basis.  The Director will also  assist clinical managers in accessing and interpreting reports, to effect operations. Additionally, the Director will have overall responsibility for the newly installed report writing and web-like distribution system.  And, of course, the Director will assure efficacy of data through interaction with all levels of staff.

Qualified candidates must have a minimum of ten years in healthcare including financial reporting, strategic planning or auditing. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree; a Masters is preferred.  Demonstrable success in the development of feasibility studies, proforma statements, budgets, forecasting and standardized reporting packages is essential.  Strong systems evaluation and implementation experience is a plus.

Located in a major metropolitan area in Texas, the city offers housing, entertainment and educational opportunities to serve virtually any lifestyle.  The international airport provides easy access to the world, while the cost of living is typically below national averages.  The climate is temperate, with outdoor activities available year round.
