The
Opportunity
Medical College of Wisconsin, in the heart of the Milwaukee
Regional Medical Center, is a private university with over
4,700 employees, 805 medical students, 800 physicians in
residency and fellowship programs and 13,000 alumni. It
is ranked 46th among medical schools in NIH research funding,
placing it in the upper half of the nation’s medical
schools. In 2006, the school received a total of $134MM
in external support for teaching, research and training.
Patient services are provided through Medical College Physicians
and Children’s Specialty Group. In-patient care is
provided at Froedert Hospital, Children’s Hospital
of Wisconsin, one of the nation’s top 10 children’s
hospitals, and Zablocki VA Medical Center.
The
Department of Anesthesiology at Medical College of Wisconsin
now seeks an Administrator to support innovation and advancement
in teaching, research and patient care through operations,
finance, human resources, strategic planning and business
plan implementation. Working with the department chairman,
the next Department Administrator will be responsible for
analysis of all operations to establish future metrics to
assure performance meets contemporary benchmark standards.
The Department Administrator will also be essential in assisting
the chairman maintain the department’s preeminent
position in anesthesiology research and teaching.

Qualifications
The Department Administrator, Anesthesiology must possess
a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible management
experience, including a minimum of seven years experience
in a senior level position. Demonstrated success in developing
operating systems and structures to achieve stated goals is
required. Experience in an academic/teaching environment is
required; experience in anesthesiology is preferred. A Master’s
Degree in an appropriate field of management is required.
To mirror the level of this Department Administrator’s
contemporaries, experience in a larger, more prominent department
is preferred.
