The Organization

Our client, a 61 bed medical center providing general medical/surgical care to a community on the Gulf Coast of Texas, seeks a Chief Executive Officer to lead its growth phase. Opened in April of 2007, the Medical Center is a joint venture between 70 physicians, a hospital management company and an investor group. The 70 physician partners own 70% of the Medical Center.

Following a successful opening, the Medical Center has achieved patient, physician and employee satisfaction survey scores in the 99th percentile. It has an average daily census in the high 30’s and is poised to move into its growth phase. This state of the art facility is located in an upscale part of the community with a very visible location on a new toll road. It provides general medical/surgical care, intermediate care, ICU and an emergency department. Diagnostic capabilities include MRI, CT, ultrasound, cardiac catheterization, nuclear medicine and laboratory services. All patient rooms are private.

The Opportunity

Our client seeks a seasoned Chief Executive Officer with substantial experience in a proprietary hospital who can demonstrate success in achieving shared goals in quality,

patient safety and patient satisfaction while increasing patient volume. Top candidates will also demonstrate a penchant for data driven management and a systematic approach to planning and implementation to achieve goals. Candidates must also possess demonstrated success in developing leadership teams with a strong commitment to individual and shared accountability. Successful leadership in a joint venture hospital will be a plus. A minimum of 10 years in healthcare operations and five years in a CEO role is required. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.

The community is home to over 150,000 residents. The economy is strong, linked to the Houston Ship Channel and NASA. Its close proximity to Houston provides myriad lifestyle options in education, cultural events and outdoor recreational activities. The international airport provides some of the lowest cost travel options in the country and the very low cost of housing can meet any needs. The area is home to the world renowned Texas Medical Center and boasts three major universities. The stable economy and diverse industries have created sustainable, consistent growth in the area for the past 25 years.
