Chief Executive Officer

The Organization

Our client is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead a dynamic regional medical center into its next phase of growth in the beautiful Four Corners of the Southwest. The organization consists of a 263 bed acute care medical center, a new state of the art regional cancer center, outpatient services including diagnostics, urgent care, wound care, free standing clinics, a 12 bed rehabilitation hospital and outpatient rehabilitation. The facility is a Level III trauma center and offers neurodiagnostics and neurosurgery.

In 2006, the medical center opened a new tower with 72 new beds. A creative process was undertaken to envision what the new tower would look like. All private rooms, a family kitchen and resource center on each floor, meditation rooms and family friendly spaces are all a reality in the new tower. Since the opening of the new tower, 23 more beds were added in a shelled out space on the new fifth floor to house the expanding cardiology program. Also in 2006, an 11,000 square foot outpatient diagnostic center was opened to accommodate patients on the east side of the community. A new regional cancer center opened in 2008 on the medical center’s campus.

The medical center enjoys a strong reputation among its physicians, patients, employees and community. It is a leader in community support and relations and is the largest employer in the county. The medical center is accredited by the Joint Commission and a recent CMS survey resulted in no deficiencies and the accolades of the CMS reviewers. Thompson-Reuters recently recognized the hospital as a performance improvement leader.

The Opportunity

Chief Executive Officer candidates must be dynamic and energetic. Excellent communication skills with all levels of community, physicians and staff are required. Commitment to the medical center’s values of Sacred Trust, Personal Reverence, Thoughtful Anticipation, Creative Vitality and Team Accountability and the Service Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Efficiency, and Stewardship are obligatory. The Location

The medical center serves a county with a population of 137,000. A rich Native American heritage and pioneer spirit abound. Albuquerque, New Mexico is three hours away. Some of the best recreation is available in the area including the nation’s number four, top rated municipal golf course, a state-of-the-art aquatics center and annual events that garner national attention. A two year community college partners with the medical center on a variety of health related careers and also offers four year degrees in select fields.
