Director, Human Resources

The Organization

Our client is seeking a Director, Human Resources to report to the Vice President of Human Resources.  The Director will lead a top performing, proactive Human Resources function in a growing organization that ranks in the top 10% nationally for patient and employee satisfaction and physician engagement.  The system is a recipient of the distinguished Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Performance Excellence, a “Top 100 Places to Work” award recipient and is located in one of the “Best Places to Live.”  The system reported record low turnover (5.3%) and vacancy (2.3%) rates for 2009.  In addition, several members of its management team are nationally recognized as leaders in the healthcare industry.  In the near future, the system anticipates continued growth in its employee population, including employed physician growth.

Supported by 4,000 employees, the organization includes two inpatient campuses, a behavioral health center, a 72,000 square foot outpatient campus, a family medicine center and multiple clinics.  It is a full service healthcare system offering cardiac care, a Level IIIa neonatal unit, a Level II trauma center, cancer treatment, neurosciences, orthopedic and bariatric services, among others.  The system recently completed a $35MM renovation of one medical center and just started construction of a wellness center.

The Human Resources function at the system is, not surprisingly, a top performer that stands out for its unique characteristics, including development of a nationally recognized best practice retention program.  The  department  holds  a  place  at  the

strategic planning table and is sought as a top counsel to leaders and staff throughout the organization.  It provides not only benefits, compensation, employee relations, recruitment and retention, but also is the originator of many innovative programs that support the performance-oriented culture of the organization.  The function serves on a system-wide basis and is fully engaged in all operational and customer service functions.
