Organization
Our client is
seeking a Director, Human Resources to report to the Vice President of
Human Resources. The Director will lead a top performing, proactive
Human Resources function in a growing organization that ranks in the top
10% nationally for patient and employee satisfaction and physician
engagement. The system is a recipient of the distinguished Malcolm
Baldrige National Quality Award for Performance Excellence, a “Top 100
Places to Work” award recipient and is located in one of the “Best Places
to Live.” The system reported record low turnover (5.3%) and
vacancy (2.3%) rates for 2009. In addition, several members of its
management team are nationally recognized as leaders in the healthcare
industry. In the near future, the system anticipates continued
growth in its employee population, including employed physician
growth.
Supported by 4,000 employees, the organization
includes two inpatient campuses, a behavioral health center, a 72,000
square foot outpatient campus, a family medicine center and multiple
clinics. It is a full service healthcare system offering cardiac
care, a Level IIIa neonatal unit, a Level II trauma center, cancer
treatment, neurosciences, orthopedic and bariatric services, among
others. The system recently completed a $35MM renovation of one
medical center and just started construction of a wellness center.
The Human Resources function at
the system is, not surprisingly, a top performer that stands out for its
unique characteristics, including development of a nationally recognized
best practice retention program. The department holds
a place at the

strategic
planning table and is sought as a top counsel to leaders and staff
throughout the organization. It provides not only benefits,
compensation, employee relations, recruitment and retention, but also is
the originator of many innovative programs that support the
performance-oriented culture of the organization. The function
serves on a system-wide basis and is fully engaged in all operational and
customer service functions.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate for the
Director, Human Resources role will have a bachelor’s degree and bring a
minimum of five years of experience in HR; a master’s degree is
preferred, as is SPHR or PHR certification. A minimum of 3 years of
supervisory experienced is required. Healthcare system experience
is required. Candidates must demonstrate success driving quality
processes of a well-recognized program, experience in a multi-facility
environment, and accomplishments in advancing their organization to the
top tier of performers.
