Director, Information Services

 

Leading efforts in quality patient care and setting the pace for future technological advances, our client has enhanced the role of the Director of Information Services.  A key component of this role is to lead the efforts of and assist the 5,000 physicians in the state in preparation for the eventuality of the Electronic Health Record (EHR).  Also, this Director will support the work of clinical consultants in the organization who assist hospitals, nursing homes and home health agencies in improving the care provided to Medicare beneficiaries.  Equally as important, the Director of Information Services will manage the two internal computer systems, a CMS SDPS system and a corporate system. 

 

The Director of Information Services will bring not only technical expertise in healthcare information systems, but also expertise in consulting and client service to facilitate the most appropriate utilization of technology.  Within this 60-person organization, the Director of Information Services will lead a current staff of three and work with peer level Directors on moving all health care provider settings to significantly improve quality and enhance organizational culture.  The Director is also charged with fostering a consultative approach to assuring that the state's physician community is enabled through appropriate investment in the most effective technology appropriate to their setting.   

 

Qualifications

 

Qualified candidates for this position must have earned a Bachelor's degree in business, computer sciences or healthcare; a Master's degree in a related discipline is strongly preferred.  Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of five years experience in healthcare Information Systems in the provider side or consulting environment.  At least three years of supervisory (leadership) experience in Information Systems is required.  Demonstrated consultative problem solving skills and project management achievements are required.  Candidates must also demonstrate success in developing tactical approaches and plans to meet overall organizational goals.
